A whip aerial magnetic mount is the quick way to put a VHF or UHF whip aerial on a vehicle without drilling. The base holds the antenna upright at highway speed, comes off in seconds and leaves no hole. It suits hire vehicles, pool cars, temporary deployments and anyone who moves a radio between vehicles.

Antenna on, antenna off, no drilling
A magnetic mount lets you fit a two-way radio or UHF CB antenna to any steel roof in seconds. It is ideal for hire and lease vehicles, pool cars, short-term projects, events and emergency deployments, where drilling the roof isn't an option. When the job is done, lift it off and move it to the next vehicle.
GME AB406 magnetic base
The GME AB406 has a strong magnet in a durable black base, a 5/16" × 26 TPI (BSW) antenna thread and 4.5 m of low-loss coax terminated with a PL259 connector. It suits GME UHF CB antennas including the AE4001/AE4002 (150 mm, 2.1 dBi), AE4007/AE4008 (600 mm, 6.6 dBi) and AE4018 (640 mm, 6.6 dBi). Signals NZ is an authorised GME dealer.
Hi-Tec Aerials magnetic mounts for land mobile radio
For VHF and UHF land mobile radio, Hi-Tec Aerials offers two options:
- MAGM: a standard magnetic base for 1/4 wave whips. Add an AP-011 or AP-012 adaptor and whip. It holds the antenna upright at over 100 km/h and comes with 3.5 m of RG58 low-loss cable and a PL259 connector.
- MAG-M½: a mini 1/2 wave VHF or UHF antenna built onto a magnetic base, for ground-independent installs on fibreglass, aluminium or small roofs. It comes with a 5 m RG58 coax tail.

Fitting tips
- Place the base in the centre of a flat steel roof for the best ground plane and coverage.
- Clean the roof and base before fitting to protect the paint and get full magnetic grip.
- Route the cable through the door seal, not the door gap, to avoid pinching the coax.
