Why the install matters
A radio is only as good as the way it went in
Most of the in-vehicle faults we get called to are not faults in the equipment. They are faults in how it was fitted.
Antenna in the wrong place and you lose half your range. Power taken off the nearest convenient wire and the set drops out every time the engine cranks. A bad earth and you get noise nobody can trace. Cable run through a door seal and it fails six months later, on the road, in the rain.
None of that shows up on the day it is installed. It shows up later, as a radio that "does not work properly" and a crew who stop trusting it. Getting it right the first time costs less than finding out the slow way.
- Antennas placed for coverage, not convenience. Position and ground plane decide your range far more than the radio does.
- Power taken properly. Correct supply, fusing and earthing, so the set is not browning out on start-up.
- Modern vehicle electronics respected. New vehicles do not forgive a careless tap into the loom.
- Cables routed and secured. Through the right grommets, clear of airbags, pedals and moving parts.
- Mounted where it can be used. Reachable, readable and not in the driver's line of sight.
- Tested before it leaves. Programmed, checked on air and handed over working, not left for the driver to discover.
- Removable at end of life. Fitted so it can come out cleanly when the vehicle is sold or the lease ends.

Mobile radios
In-vehicle DMR and PoC sets, mounted, wired and programmed. Control head where the driver can actually use it, speaker where it can be heard over the engine.

Antennas
Selected and sited for the coverage you need, with the mount and ground plane to match. The single biggest thing that decides whether a mobile set performs.

Vehicle GPS
Tracking and telematics fitted at the same time as the radio, so location reporting is part of the same install rather than a second visit.

Vehicle Wi-Fi
A cellular router in the vehicle turning mobile data into Wi-Fi for laptops, tablets and job devices — so the cab works as a mobile office instead of a dead spot.

Service vehicle accessories
The rest of the fit-out that keeps a working vehicle working. Specified and installed alongside the comms rather than bolted on afterwards.

Power and wiring
The part nobody sees and everything depends on. Correct supply, fusing, earthing and cable routing, done to a standard that survives the life of the vehicle.

From one ute to a whole fleet
The same four steps whether it is a single vehicle or forty of them.
Tell us the vehicle
Make, model and what needs to go in it. If it is a fleet, tell us how many and what they are — a fit-out that suits a ute is not the one for a truck.
We spec the fit-out together
Equipment, antenna, mounting position and cable route, worked out before anyone picks up a tool. You get a quote against that, not a surprise.
Fitted and tested
On your site or at our workshop. Programmed, powered, checked on air and handed back working, with the driver shown how to use it.
Repeatable across the fleet
Once the first vehicle is right, every one after it is the same build. Consistent fit-outs are what make a fleet maintainable.
Fleet rollouts
Vehicles you cannot all take off the road at once
A fleet rollout is a scheduling problem as much as a technical one. Nobody can hand over thirty vehicles on a Monday.
We work through a fleet at the rate your operation can stand — a few at a time, around your run schedule, at your depot or ours. The first vehicle becomes the template, and every one after it gets the same build, the same mounting positions and the same programming.
That consistency is the point. A fleet where every cab is laid out the same way is one where a driver can move between vehicles without relearning anything, and where a fault on one is a fault we already know how to fix.
- Scheduled around your operation. A few vehicles at a time, not the whole fleet off the road.
- One build, repeated. Same equipment, same positions, same programming in every vehicle.
- At your depot or ours. Whichever costs you less downtime.
- New vehicles as they arrive. Fit-outs for replacements built to match what is already in the fleet.
- De-fit and re-fit. Equipment moved out of vehicles going off lease and into the ones replacing them.
- Records kept. What went into which vehicle, so the next person does not have to work it out.
Common questions
Before you book
Do you come to us, or do we bring the vehicle to you?
Either. We install on site across New Zealand and we also build vehicles in our own workshop. For a fleet it usually comes down to which one costs you less downtime — tell us where the vehicles are and how they are used and we will suggest the way round that works.
Can you fit equipment we already own?
Yes. We fit equipment we supplied and equipment you already have, including gear coming out of vehicles you are retiring. If what you have is not worth refitting we will tell you that too.
Will this affect the vehicle warranty?
A properly executed installation should not, but modern vehicles are sensitive and some manufacturers are specific about how accessories are connected. Tell us the make and model and whether the vehicle is under warranty or on lease, and we will work to what those terms require.
How long is a vehicle off the road?
It depends entirely on what is going in — a mobile radio and antenna is a very different job from a full comms, GPS and Wi-Fi fit-out. We will tell you when we spec it, and for a fleet we schedule around your runs so vehicles come out in batches you can absorb.
Can you take the equipment out again later?
Yes, and we install with that in mind. Vehicles get sold and leases end, and equipment fitted properly comes out cleanly and goes into the next vehicle instead of being written off with the old one.
Do you do plant and machinery as well as road vehicles?
Yes — trucks, utes, vans, forklifts, tractors, harvesters and fixed plant. The environment is harsher and the mounting is different, but the principles are the same.
