Two-way radio for
warehousing and distribution
Warehouse floors, yards, gatehouses and the managers trying to keep all of it moving. Large, dense sites full of racking and steel are hard on radio coverage, and every team needs its own channel. We set sites up on a single DMR repeater, or on push-to-talk over cellular with Wi-Fi backup for larger and multi-site operations, with mobile radios on the forklifts and site vehicles.

The challenges
Big sites, busy teams, and everyone needing the same message in an emergency
Warehousing puts three demands on a radio system at once. Most of the problems we are called in to fix come from a set-up that only handled one of them.
Coverage and safety
Racking, steel cladding and long aisles block line-of-sight radio. A handheld that works at the dock may not reach the back of the building.
- Reliable coverage across a large, dense site, from the dock doors to the back aisles, the yard and the gatehouse.
- Emergency procedures that reach every member of staff at once, with one call to the whole site for an evacuation or an incident.
- An SOS function on the PoC solution, so a worker in trouble can raise the alarm at the press of a button.
- Mobile radios fitted to forklifts and site vehicles, so drivers stay hands-free and reachable.
Teams and efficiency
Picking, dispatch, security and management all need to talk, but not all on the same channel all day.
- Separate channels or groups for each team, so instructions are not lost in someone else's traffic.
- Managers who can reach one team, several teams or the whole site from the same radio.
- Security and gatehouse staff linked to the floor, so arriving trucks and visitors are handled without a phone call.
- One system across several sites on the PoC solution, so a manager can reach every warehouse from anywhere.
Two solutions
A repeater for one site, PoC for larger or multi-site operations
The size of the site, and how many sites there are, decides which one fits. We supply both on Kirisun radios, and we will tell you plainly which one you need.
A single repeater, covering the whole site
One Kirisun TR850 DMR repeater placed to cover the building and yard, with Kirisun DP405 handhelds for staff and Kirisun DM588 mobile radios on forklifts and other site vehicles.
- A single Kirisun TR850 repeater extends coverage past the racking and steel that block radio-to-radio talk.
- Separate channels for warehouse, security, gatehouse and management.
- DM588 mobile radios on forklifts and site vehicles.
- Licensing handled by us, including the repeater channel.
Best forA single small to medium warehouse or distribution centre.
Every site, every team, on one system
Kirisun T60 and T65 push-to-talk over cellular handhelds with Wi-Fi backup, and Kirisun M50 PoC mobiles on forklifts and other site vehicles.
- Cellular coverage with Wi-Fi backup, so the radios keep working deep inside large buildings.
- Multiple sites on one system, with groups for each team and each site.
- An SOS function on the T60 and T65 handhelds and the M50 mobiles.
- An optional dispatcher console for a control room or security office.
Best forLarge distribution centres, and operators running several warehouses.
Who uses it
One system, set up around four kinds of user
Each team gets its own channel or group, and the radio that suits the way it works.
Warehousing staff
Pickers, packers and forklift drivers, on handhelds or vehicle-mounted mobiles, talking within their own team.
Security
Security staff covering the site and the perimeter, on their own channel, and first to hear an emergency call.
Gatehouse staff
Checking in trucks and visitors, and letting the dock know what is arriving without leaving the gatehouse.
Managers
Able to reach one team, several teams or the whole site, and on the PoC solution, every site in the network.
Forklifts and site vehicles
DM588 or M50 mobile radios fitted in the vehicle, so drivers stay hands-free and reachable.
Emergency procedures
One call to every radio on site for an evacuation, a spill or an injury, so nobody hears it second-hand.

Designed around the building, not the brochure
Coverage in a warehouse depends on the racking, the cladding and where people actually work. So we look at the site first.
We start with how each team uses the site, survey the building, and decide between a single repeater and PoC with Wi-Fi backup. After installation we test coverage on site, aisle by aisle, before handing over.
- Scope the teams: who needs to talk to whom, and what your emergency procedures require.
- Survey the site: building layout, racking, the yard, the gatehouse, and how far the radios need to reach.
- Choose the solution: a single repeater, or PoC with Wi-Fi backup for larger or multi-site operations.
- Licence, programme and install: channels or groups for each team, repeater and vehicle mobiles fitted by our own technicians.
- Test and support: on-site coverage testing after installation, then maintenance and monitoring from the same team.
Common questions
Before you get in touch
Repeater or PoC: which do we need?
For a single small to medium site, a single Kirisun TR850 DMR repeater usually does the job. For a large distribution centre, or several sites that need to be on one system, PoC with Wi-Fi backup is the better fit. We will tell you which after looking at the site.
Why do our current radios drop out at the back of the warehouse?
Racking, stock and steel cladding block radio-to-radio signals. A repeater placed to cover the whole building, or PoC radios that can fall back to the site's Wi-Fi, solves most of these dead spots.
Can different teams have their own channels?
Yes. Warehouse, security, gatehouse and management can each have their own channel or group, and managers can still reach everyone when they need to.
How do radios fit into our emergency procedures?
One call reaches every radio on site at once, so an evacuation or incident instruction is heard by everyone at the same time. On the PoC solution, the SOS function on the T60, T65 and M50 lets a worker raise the alarm at the press of a button.
Can you fit radios to our forklifts?
Yes. We fit DM588 mobiles on the repeater solution, or M50 PoC mobiles on the PoC solution, to forklifts and other site vehicles.
