The Icom IC-GM1600 is a GMDSS survival craft VHF radio for liferafts and lifeboats on commercial vessels. It meets IMO requirements for temperature, thermal shock, vibration and 1 m drop resistance while staying waterproof to 1 m, with a high-visibility yellow body, large keypad and more than 8 hours of operation at –20°C on the BP-234 lithium battery.
The Icom IC-GM1600 is a two-way VHF radio built for survival craft. It's designed to be easy to find and use in an emergency, with a highly visible yellow body, a bright LED indicator on the top panel, a wide-angle LCD and a large keypad with positive button action.
It meets the strict environmental requirements for GMDSS survival craft radios, including temperature, thermal shock, vibration and drop tests from 1 m, and keeps its 1 m waterproof rating after passing them, as set out in IMO resolutions A.694(17) and MSC.149(77). Paired with the BP-234 lithium primary battery, it gives more than 8 hours of operating time even at –20°C.
